The mines track is a nice quick and close drive from Blackbutt. The track is mostly easy to medium with a couple of hard rated hills on the drive, hence the hard rating. There is one spot that can catch you out if your line is not quite right. Due to the deep ruts and rocky hills a vehicle with at least a 2 inch lift is required or you will be reshaping the underside of your vehicle.
We start by heading through town then onto some forestry gravel roads where we will then meet the dirt. After a short loop and hill climb, we will head onto the track for a lovely drive through the bush, I hope you don’t mind the odd pin stripe here and there. At times you will be high enough to see the vistas and views of the valley. At some point we will come to the mine site which gives the track its name, for safety reasons they filled the mines in a few years ago. The picture is of one of the tracks, a more sedate one.
